«A Spool of Blue Thread» is Anne Tyler's family saga novel, published by Ballantine Books in paperback (400 pages, in English).
In Baltimore, the Whitshanks seem a close and special family, but the stories they tell hide jealousies, disappointments, and secrets. The action follows Abby and Red from July 1959 and spans four generations, from Red's parents, who arrived in Baltimore in the 1920s, to their grandchildren, with the family home always as the anchor.
Finalist for the Man Booker Prize and the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2015, as well as a nominee for the Goodreads Choice Award in the fiction category.
Ideal for book clubs and for those who enjoy literary fiction with generational portraits of everyday life.
