«Adults in the Room: My Battle with Europe's Deep Establishment» is the memoir by Yanis Varoufakis (Random House UK, paperback, 576 pages).
Yanis Varoufakis, former Greek finance minister, recounts his attempt to renegotiate Greece's debt with the European Union during the crisis. Using recordings and meeting notes, he reveals the closed-door negotiations with the European elite and denounces the hypocrisy and collusion that, in his view, destroyed Greek democracy.
The book was published in 2018 in English, became a Sunday Times number one bestseller, and The Guardian lists it among the hundred best books of the 21st century.
For those seeking first-hand accounts of European politics, the euro crisis, and the real workings of power.

Ioannis Georgiou "Yanis" Varoufakis is a Greek economist, academic, author, and politician. Since 2018, he has served as Secretary-General of Democracy in Europe Movement 2025, the left-wing European political party he co-founded in 2016. Previously, he served as Minister of Finance in the government of Alexis Tsipras in 2015, during the 2009–2018 Greek government-debt crisis, where he became internationally known for opposing EU-imposed austerity measures.
