«Afortunada» is the autobiographical memoir by Alice Sebold, published by Círculo de Lectores in hardcover (300 pages, in Spanish).
Alice Sebold recounts the rape she suffered at nineteen while studying at Syracuse University, and what came after: the report, the trial, the fear, and the need to rebuild her life. The book thus becomes a testimony about trauma, justice, and resilience.
Original work: «Lucky», published in 1999. Translation by Aurora Echevarría.
Readers of memoirs and nonfiction interested in testimonies about trauma, justice, and personal overcoming.
Alice Sebold is an American author. She is known for her novels The Lovely Bones and The Almost Moon, and a memoir, Lucky. The Lovely Bones was on The New York Times Best Seller list and was adapted into a film by the same name in 2009.
