«Air Mail: Erzählungen» is Jeffrey Eugenides's short story collection, published by Rowohlt in paperback (119 pages, in German).
The book brings together three stories. In «Air Mail», a backpacker with an intestinal infection seeks on an island in the Gulf of Siam a mystical harmony between body and nature. The other two tales, «Die Bratenspritze» and «Timesharing», address with irony the desire for motherhood, relationships, and the contradictions of everyday life.
Published in 2003. German translation by Cornelia C. Walter and Eike Schönfeldt, with an afterword by Denis Scheck.
For readers of short fiction and of Jeffrey Eugenides's ironic narrative, such as «Middlesex» and «Die Selbstmord-Schwestern».
