«Alejandro. El unificador de Grecia. La Hélade.» is the historical novel by Gisbert Haefs, published by Edhasa in hardcover (464 pages, in Spanish).
The novel narrates the youth of Alexander the Great and the path that leads him to unify Greece: his education, power struggles, and military campaigns in an ancient world full of alliances and rivalries. Haefs recreates the era with atmospheric density and brings to life the historical figures surrounding the future conqueror.
First installment of the «Alexander» saga; originally published in German as «Alexander, der Roman der Einigung Griechenlands» in 1992. Translation by José Antonio Alemany.
For readers of historical fiction who want to approach the figure of Alexander the Great through fiction and the world of ancient Greece.

Gisbert Haefs is a German writer in several genres and translator. He has written historical novels such as Alexander, won both the Deutscher Science Fiction Preis and Kurd-Laßwitz-Preis in science fiction, and placed at the Deutscher Krimi Preis for crime fiction. As a translator he worked on a much criticized effort at translating works of Jorge Luis Borges into German.
