«Alessandro in Asia» is the historical novel by Gisbert Haefs, published by Tropea in hardcover (512 pages, in Italian).
The narrative follows Alexander the Great from his crossing of the Hellespont in his attempt to forge a universal empire against the Persia of Darius. Haefs combines military strategy with the lives of secondary characters and dwells on the dreams and psychology of the conqueror, with rigorous period detail.
Subtitled «Il romanzo del primo impero mondiale», it continues the saga Haefs devotes to Alexander the Great, begun with an earlier volume dedicated to the conqueror.
A read for fans of historical fiction and the great military campaigns of antiquity.
