«Alle unsere frühen Schlachten» is a collection of football writings by Javier Marías, Paul Ingendaay (ed.), in hardcover from Klett-Cotta (138 pp., German).
Javier Marías writes about football as a break from fiction: a territory of certainties, passions and memories. He defines the sport as a mix of sentimentality and savagery, a school of behavior and nostalgia. Paul Ingendaay, in his foreword, presents it as an epic spectacle that deserves to be taken seriously.
German version of the original «Salvajes y sentimentales: Letras de fútbol», with subtitle «Fußball-Stücke» and translation by Alexander Dobler and Catalina Rojas Hauser.
