Synopsis of Aloma
Aloma, editada inicialmente en 1938, es la novela que enlaza las producciones de preguerra y de postguerra de Mercè Rodoreda. Es el único título de su primera etapa que la escritora reconoció, y la versión revisada de 1969 permite observar la evolución de la autora y comprender mejor el conjunto de su obra. La novela narra la historia de la relación entre la joven barcelonesa de dieciocho años que da título a la novela y Robert, el pariente político ya maduro venido de América. El relato se concentra en los sentimientos contradictorios de Aloma, en cómo vive la relación tanto individualmente como respecto de su entorno social y en la manera como todo enfrenta dramáticamente a la chica a una realidad muy diferente de cualquier ideal adolescente.
