«Ancia» is the poetry collection by Blas de Otero, published by Visor Libros in the Visor de Poesía series (176 pages, in Spanish).
Ancia brings together two of Blas de Otero's most representative books, Ángel fieramente humano and Redoble de conciencia, along with 38 poems not included in them. Written in the early 1950s, the work is a song of uprootedness in the face of death and emptiness, but it also leaves room for love and hope. It also includes the prologue-study that Dámaso Alonso devoted to these poems.
This copy is volume 12 of the Visor de Poesía series, in paperback. The work won the 1961 Fastenrath Prize from the Royal Spanish Academy.
Recommended for readers of contemporary Spanish poetry, interested in the work of Blas de Otero and postwar lyric poetry.
