«Arena negra» is the crime novel by Cristina Cassar Scalia, published by Duomo Ediciones in paperback (432 pages, in Spanish).
Beneath the ash of Etna, Deputy Commissioner Giovanna Garrasi, known as Vanina, investigates the mummified corpse of a woman found in a villa in Sciara abandoned since 1959. Aided by retired commissioner Biagio Patanè, the investigation connects that old crime to a story of greed and resentment that reaches the present.
First case of Vanina Garrasi, translated from Italian by Montserrat Triviño González and published in 2022.
For readers of crime and detective fiction who enjoy charismatic female investigators and Sicilian atmospheres like those of Camilleri or Montalbano.
