«Artículos» is a selection of journalistic articles by Mariano José de Larra, published by Ediciones Akal in paperback (176 pages, in Spanish).
This selection brings together eight costumbrismo articles that Larra published in the press between November 1832 and December 1836. Arranged chronologically, they offer a critical and ironic view of Spanish society at the time; the style combines essayistic exposition with narrative and dialogue passages that sometimes recall the short story.
Volume 5 of the Akal Literaturas collection. Edition by Mª Luisa Alonso de Prado Climent. Includes a teacher's guide booklet.
For students and teachers of Spanish literature and for readers interested in the social criticism of Romanticism.
Mariano José de Larra y Sánchez de Castro was a Spanish romantic writer and journalist best known for his numerous essays and his infamous suicide. His works were often satirical and critical of the 19th-century Spanish society, and focused on both the politics and customs of his time.
