«Astérix gladiador» is the adventure comic by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, published by Grijalbo/Dargaud in hardcover (48 pages, in Spanish).
The Romans capture the village bard and send him to Rome as a gift for Caesar, who plans to throw him to the lions. Astérix and Obélix decide to infiltrate the city and pose as gladiators to rescue him, leading them to fight in the amphitheater arena with the humor and absurd situations typical of the series.
Fourth album in the Astérix series, originally published in 1964 as «Astérix gladiateur».

René Goscinny was a French comic editor and writer, who created the Asterix comic book series with illustrator Albert Uderzo. Born in France to a Jewish family from Poland, he spent his childhood in Argentina where he attended French schools and later lived in the United States for a short period of time. There he met Belgian cartoonist Morris. After his return to France, they collaborated for more than 20 years on the comic series Lucky Luke.
