«Até Onde Se Pode Ir?» is David Lodge's satirical novel, published by ASA Edições in paperback (270 pages, in Portuguese).
A group of British Catholics who met at university in the 1950s lives through the social and religious changes of the following decades. David Lodge portrays with humor and bitterness their doubts and contradictions about marriage, adultery and loss, between the Church's traditional doctrine and an increasingly permissive society.
Originally published in 1980 as How Far Can You Go?, it won the Whitbread Award in the novel and book of the year category. This Portuguese edition appeared in 2006.
For readers of British fiction and humor with religious undertones, interested in the social evolution of the 20th century.

David John Lodge was an English novelist and critic. He was a literature professor at the University of Birmingham until 1987, and some of his novels satirise academic life, notably the "Campus Trilogy" – Changing Places: A Tale of Two Campuses (1975), Small World: An Academic Romance (1984) and Nice Work (1988). The latter two were shortlisted for the Booker Prize. Another theme is Roman Catholicism, beginning from his first published novel The Picturegoers (1960).
