This book delves into the history of the Templars, separating historical facts from the myths surrounding them. The Order of the Temple emerged in the 12th century with the purpose of protecting Christ's tomb and pilgrims. For two centuries, their vast heritage granted them immense power and glory. Their dramatic disappearance coincided with the failure of the crusades and was due to complex causes. Alain Demurger, Professor of History, offers a detailed view of this fascinating historical period.
Alain Demurger is a French historian, and a leading specialist of the history of the Knights Templar and the Crusades.
