James Gilmour Thompson was a Scottish-born Canadian freestyle swimmer who won a bronze medal in the 4×200-metre freestyle relay at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam; he also competed in the 400-metre and 1500-metre freestyle events, but failed to reach the finals.
