«Bariloche» is the contemporary fiction novel by Andrés Neuman, published by Editorial Anagrama in hardcover (176 pages, in Spanish).
Demetrio Rota collects garbage in Buenos Aires and lives trapped in a mediocre routine: he sleeps by day and at night puts together puzzles next to the Chacarita cemetery. That activity helps him fit together memories of his past, while the novel reconstructs his story as a parable about memory, decay and urban alienation.
«Bariloche» was published in 1999 in the Narrativas hispánicas collection (number 274) and was a finalist for the Herralde Novel Prize.
A novel for readers of contemporary fiction interested in Argentine narrative and in stories about memory and urban life.
Andrés Neuman is an Argentine writer, poet, translator, columnist and blogger.
