«Basic Instinct» is the novel based on the movie of the same name by Richard Osborne, published by Bastei Lübbe Verlag in paperback (205 pages, in German).
In San Francisco, a veteran pop singer is found murdered in his bed, tied up and stabbed with an ice pick. Detective Nick Curran, impulsive and at odds with his superiors, focuses his suspicions on Catherine Tramell, the beautiful and enigmatic lover of the victim and a writer of crime novels. The crime reproduces with unsettling fidelity a murder described in one of her books, and Curran finds himself trapped in a game of seduction and manipulation that blends desire, power, and danger.
German translation by Reinhard Wagner; first German publication in 1992. Volume 13444 of the Allgemeine Reihe collection from Bastei Lübbe.
For thriller readers and fans of the movie starring Sharon Stone and Michael Douglas.
