«Be safe» is the young adult novel by Xavier-Laurent Petit, published by Cruïlla in paperback (192 pages, in Catalan).
Jeremy, eighteen and without studies, enlists in the army to learn a trade, but ends up posted to Iraq. His letters to his parents contrast with the emails to his brother Oskar; music and absence unite Oskar with Marka, who also has a brother there. The novel reflects the lives of soldiers and the anguish of their families.
It is number 163 in the Gran Angular collection; 2010 edition, translation from French by Pau Joan Hernàndez i de Fuenmayor and winner of the 2009 Sorcières prize.
Aimed at readers aged 12 to 17, particularly those seeking a realistic novel about war and family relationships.
