«Beluna Jazz» is the novel by Harkaitz Cano, published by Susa in paperback, with 177 pages, in Basque.
Bob Ieregi, a trumpeter son of a Basque born in Kentucky, plays at the Beluna Moon club in Rotterdam until he ends up in a psychiatric center nicknamed Alaska from which he needs to escape. Built like a jazz concert, the novel blends crime fiction with a surreal, dreamlike atmosphere, with music as the thread of the escape.
It is Harkaitz Cano's first novel, written when he was twenty; this Basque edition was published in 2008.
For readers of contemporary fiction and jazz enthusiasts, and for anyone wanting a glimpse of current Basque literature.
