«Biografía del fracaso» is Luis Antonio de Villena's essay on losers, published by Planeta in hardcover (243 pages, in Spanish).
Villena traces a gallery of famous losers —Caravaggio, Gauguin, Rimbaud, Scott Fitzgerald, Cernuda— to reflect on failure as a driving force: those who tried to be more and collapsed, against conformist mediocrity. An essay that turns defeat into a form of aristocracy.
Second edition published in 1997. Subtitle: «Perseverancia y validez de un mito contemporáneo». Planeta's Documento collection.
For readers of essays and biography interested in literature, art, and the lives of creators who embody the figure of the loser.
