«Biondo era e bello» is the biography of Dante Alighieri written by Mario Tobino, published by Mondadori in paperback (173 pages, in Italian).
Tobino portrays Dante as a contemporary: political passion, combative fervors, love affairs and the bitterness of exile. The Dantesque hendecasyllable runs through Tobino's life, from youthful readings to recitations, and his prose draws on the quarrelsome yet amiable Tuscany that nourished Dante's poetry.
Originally published in 1974, this 2016 edition is the fourth and belongs to the Oscar moderni collection.
For readers of literary biography and Italian literature with an interest in Dante Alighieri; a work also used as school reading.
Mario Tobino was an Italian poet, writer and psychiatrist.
