«Birthday Happy, Contrary Mary» is the children's picture book by Anita Jeram, published by Walker Books Ltd in paperback (32 pages, in English).
Contrary Mary, the little mouse who always does the opposite, doesn't seem happy at her birthday party: she tries her new stilts the wrong way round, makes sandwiches backwards and eats jelly with a knife and fork. Her father, who knows how to cheer her up, has a plan to make her laugh. A tender and funny tale about the joy of celebrating another year.
The book belongs to the The Giggle Club series. The story originally appeared in 1998; this paperback edition is from 2004.
Recommended for early readers and for sharing with family at birthday celebrations.
