«Caderno de Agosto» is the young-adult novel by Alice Vieira, published by Caminho in paperback (197 pages, in Portuguese).
Teenager Glória writes about her family: her father, a psychiatrist, leaves her mother, Luísa, a History teacher stuck on a thesis about D. Maria II, and marries a younger woman. An editor asks Luísa for a love novel, and Glória incorporates it into her notebook. The work, with humor and dialogue, portrays Lisbon's bourgeoisie of the 1990s.
4th edition (2007), with illustrations by José Miguel Ribeiro; work originally published in 1995.
For young readers aged 13 and up and for those who enjoy family portraits and humor.
