«Capitaine» is the novel by Adrien Bosc, published by Stock in paperback (392 pages, in French).
On March 24, 1941, the Capitaine-Paul-Lemerle sets sail from Marseille to Martinique with refugees from wartime Europe: Spanish Republicans, Eastern immigrants, Jews, stateless people, Surrealist writers and artists. The crossing brings together André Breton, Claude Lévi-Strauss and Anna Seghers in a choral narrative about exile and chance.
The French edition was published by Stock on August 22, 2018 in the La Bleue collection.
For readers of contemporary French fiction interested in exile and wartime Europe.
