«Castle Diary» is the illustrated historical fiction diary by Richard Platt and Chris Riddell, published by Walker Books Ltd in hardcover (64 pages, in English).
Tobias, an eleven-year-old boy, is sent as a page to his uncle's castle in thirteenth-century England. His diary describes both the great events —boar hunts, tournaments— and the castle's daily tasks, from kneading bread to emptying the latrines. The volume closes with a reference section on castle construction, weapons and heraldry.
The full title is The Journal of Tobias Burgess, Page and it is part of The Diary Series.
Recommended for young readers aged 7 and up interested in medieval history and life in castles.
Richard Platt is a British writer of nonfiction and information books and multimedia works, primarily for children.
