«Catalunya: de la identitat a la independència» is Xavier Rubert de Ventós's manifesto, published by Empúries in paperback (160 pages, in Catalan).
Xavier Rubert de Ventós updates his plea for Catalonia's independence against states he considers increasingly nationalist. With a direct tone, the essay inverts the logic of traditional Catalanism: it proposes starting with the sovereignty claim, since recognition of cultural identity will come later.
The book was originally published in 1999; it belongs to the Biblioteca Universal Empúries collection (no. 12) and includes a prologue by Pasqual Maragall.
Aimed at readers interested in political essays, nationalism, and the sovereignty debate in Catalonia.
Xavier Rubert de Ventós was a Catalan philosopher, writer and politician.
