«Cavallers i pagesos» is the young-adult novel by Oriol Vergés, published by Publicacions de l'Abadia de Montserrat in paperback (124 pages, in Catalan).
In twelfth-century Catalonia, after the conquests of Tortosa and Lleida from the Muslims and the fixing of the territory's borders, the novel follows two feudal families: the barons of Castellbloc and the Moliner, a lineage of peasants. A final appendix distinguishes fictional elements from historical ones.
The work is the second volume of the collection 'Les Arrels, l'aventura i la història', with illustrations by Pere Virgili.
Aimed at young readers, the work is part of a collection awarded the Premi Crítica Serra d'Or for children's and young-adult literature (1985).
