«Celle qui venait des plaines» is the historical young adult novel by Charlotte Bousquet, published by Gulf Stream Editeur in paperback (352 pages, in French).
An adventure novel on the Dakota plains: Winona, a young Lakota mixed-race girl, suffers uprooting when she is placed in the Saint-James Mission, where a severe education tries to erase her culture. Her search for identity and justice crosses paths with the Steele Men, cowboys and mercenaries, in a western critical of forced assimilation and racism.
The original French edition was published in October 2017 and is part of the Electrogène Aventure collection.
For young readers aged 12 and up, with an interest in history, Lakota culture and western stories.
