Celui qui va vers elle ne revient pas

Synopsis of Celui qui va vers elle ne revient pas

«Celui qui va vers elle ne revient pas» is Shulem Deen's autobiographical account, published by Points in paperback (480 pages, in French).

Shulem Deen grew up in the closed Skver Hasidic community, where asking questions was frowned upon. Deen married at 18 and led an austere life until radio, a library, and the Internet awakened his doubts. Deen's account narrates his expulsion for heresy and his path to emancipation, showing that closed world from within.

Original title: All Who Go Do Not Return. Translated from the English (United States) by Karine Reignier-Guerre. French edition in the Points documents collection (no. 4916).

For readers of memoirs and nonfiction, interested in religion, Judaism, and stories of crises of faith and closed communities.
