«Chaos calme» is the novel by Sandro Veronesi published by Distribooks Inc in the Le Livre de Poche collection, in paperback (535 pages, in French).
After the sudden death of his wife, Pietro Paladini sets up in his car outside his daughter's school in Milan. From that fixed point, friends, colleagues and strangers come to talk to him and share their time; between grief and the everyday, the novel portrays the family contradictions and social comedy of his surroundings.
The work was originally published in Italian as «Caos calmo» (2005), winner of the Strega Prize 2006 and the Prix Femina étranger 2008. This French edition came out in 2010.
For readers of contemporary fiction and translated Italian literature looking for intimate stories about grief.
