«Chulas y famosas» is the satirical novel by Terenci Moix, published by Planeta in paperback (443 pages, in Spanish).
A grotesque satire starring Miranda Boronat, a millionairess whose shrill squawk becomes a protest against frivolity. Notorious millionairesses, runway models, eccentric aristocrats and minor celebrities populate a delirious farce that parodies the world of money and fame in contemporary Spain.
The full title is «Chulas y famosas o bien La venganza de Eróstrato»; this 2001 edition includes a prologue by Pere Gimferrer. It is part of the Booket Novela collection. The work was originally published in 1985.
Recommended for readers of satirical fiction and sharp humour who appreciate criticism of fame and contemporary society.
