A city steeped in crime forces special agents Ed Caixão and Jones Coveiro to intervene; a succession of macabre murders seems to have no explanation and solid leads crumble. The investigation changes course when an albino nicknamed «Porquinho-da-Índia» appears with a stash of heroin valued at three million dollars.
Sixth installment of Himes's Harlem cycle, translated into Portuguese by Clarisse Tavares. The original novel, «The Heat's On», was published in 1961.
