«Claudine de Lyon» is the children's novel by Marie-Christine Helgerson, published by Flammarion-Pere Castor in hardcover (220 pages).
Claudine is eleven years old and already has a hunched back from spending ten hours a day throwing the shuttle on her father's loom. Set in Lyon a century ago, in the Croix-Rousse district, the novel tells of her desire to escape a life of poverty: she wants to go to school and choose her own trade.
The novel belongs to the Castor Poche collection from Flammarion; this edition was published in December 1992.
It is aimed at children and young readers, especially those aged 8 or 9 and up.
