«Cold Turkey» is the young adult novel by Angelika Mechtel, published by Ravensburger Buchverlag Otto Maier GmbH in paperback (159 pages, in German).
At school, Andreas is caught with a wrap of hashish that isn't his: Michi, a friend who deals, had stashed it with him. Andreas doesn't rat him out, gets expelled, and his life spirals out of control: family pressure, friends drifting away, and Natalie, an older user, drags him into addiction.
The work was originally published in 1992; this paperback edition is from 1997. The full title includes the subtitle «Die Drogenkarriere des Andreas B.»
Recommended for young people aged 12 and up and for school reading, especially to address the topic of drug dependence.
