«Conflits de famille» is Alison Lurie's satirical novel, published by Rivages in paperback (458 pages, in French).
Set during the Vietnam War, it satirizes American society of the sixties and seventies through the Tate family: Brian, a rigid intellectual, does not understand his children Matilda and Jeffrey, while his wife Erica suspects he is unfaithful with a student. A mordant comedy about adultery, independence and family life.
Novel originally published as The War Between the Tates, translated into French by Marie-Claude Peugeot. This edition belongs to the Rivages poche / Bibliothèque étrangère collection.
A read for fans of social satire and American literary fiction, also suitable for book clubs.

Alison Stewart Lurie was an American novelist and academic. She won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for her 1984 novel Foreign Affairs. Although better known as a novelist, she wrote many non-fiction books and articles, particularly on children's literature and the semiotics of dress.
