«Congo Luso» is the historical novel by Peter Forbath about the Portuguese conquest of the Congo, published by Planeta DeAgostini in hardcover (576 pages).
The novel follows Gil Eanes as he witnesses, between 1482 and 1502, the Portuguese conquest of the Congo: the cultural clash between Europe and Africa, the colonization and violent evangelization of the territory. It is the reconstruction of a little-known episode of colonial expansion, told from the contradictions of those who lived it.
Translation by Alberto Coscarelli. Original title: Lord of the Kongo (1988). Volume 36 of the collection Últimos éxitos de la novela histórica.
Work aimed at readers of historical fiction and exploration narratives, with an interest in the African colonial past.
