«Consecuencias naturales» is the feminist science fiction novel by Elia Barceló, published by Crononauta in paperback (280 pages, in Spanish).
In a future of great space advances and gender equality, Lieutenant Andrade takes part in the first contact with the Xhroll, a reserved humanoid species. His eagerness to be the first to sleep with an alien woman triggers unforeseeable consequences for both races. With acid humor, the novel questions prejudices and gender roles.
The novel won the Ignotus Award 1995. This edition includes an epilogue by Teresa López-Pellisa.
For science fiction readers who appreciate social criticism and a gender perspective.
Elia Barceló or Elia Eisterer-Barceló was a Spanish academic in Austria and she then became a successful full-time writer. She writes in different genres and her work has been adapted to screen.
