«Corazón» is the young-adult novel by Edmundo de Amicis, published by Gadir Editorial in paperback (140 pages, in Spanish).
Enrico, a twelve-year-old schoolboy from Turin, narrates a full school year. Everyday experiences are combined with exemplary monthly tales, such as «De los Apéninos y los Andes». The work reflects post-unification Italy and champions patriotism, respect for parents, sacrifice and solidarity.
The work was originally published in 1886 under the title «Cuore». This edition includes a prologue by Luis Mateo Díez, a translation by Elena Martínez Nuño and illustrations by Ferraguti, Nardi and Sartorio.
For young and adult readers who want to approach a classic of young-adult literature set in nineteenth-century Italy.
