«Crazy» is the young adult novel by German writer Benjamin Lebert, published by Editorial Empúries in paperback (208 pages, in Catalan).
Benjamin, the narrator, is sixteen and has a disability; after failing several subjects, his parents send him to a boarding school. Far from focusing on his studies, he and his new gang prefer to sneak out at night, drink, experiment with sex and disobey. Like Holden in The Catcher in the Rye, Benjamin fears growing up and doesn't want to stop being young.
Originally published in German in 1999, this Catalan edition appeared in 2001 in the L'Odissea collection. The novel has been translated into more than twenty languages and has been adapted into a movie.
A read close to teenagers, with themes of growth, friendship and rebellion, for those seeking coming-of-age young adult fiction.

Benjamin Lebert is a German writer. He was born in Freiburg. His first novel, Crazy, was published when Lebert was only 16 years old. The international bestseller about a handicapped teenage rebel has been licensed to 33 nations and was made into a feature film by Hans-Christian Schmid, and has drawn comparisons to J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the Rye. In 2003, Lebert published a second novel, Der Vogel ist ein Rabe.
