«Crónica de una muerte anunciada» is the novel by Gabriel García Márquez published by Literatura Random House in hardcover (16 pages, in Spanish).
In a coastal town in Colombia, Santiago Nasar is murdered by the Vicario brothers to wash away the honor of their sister. The narrator reconstructs the events with a non-linear structure and multiple voices that show how the whole community knew of the crime without preventing it. Honor, fatality and collective responsibility are the axes of this chronicle.
The work was originally published in 1981; this edition is from 1989. In 1983 it was nominated for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize.
For readers of Latin American narrative and magical realism, as well as the work of Gabriel García Márquez.

Gabriel José García Márquez was a Colombian writer and journalist, known affectionately as Gabo or Gabito throughout Latin America. Considered one of the most significant authors of the 20th century, particularly in the Spanish language, he was awarded the 1972 Neustadt International Prize for Literature and the 1982 Nobel Prize in Literature. He pursued a self-directed education that resulted in leaving law school for a career in journalism. From early on he showed no inhibitions in his criticism of Colombian and foreign politics. In 1958, he married Mercedes Barcha Pardo; they had two sons, Rodrigo and Gonzalo.
