«Crónicas italianas» is Stendhal's collection of short stories, published by Espasa in paperback (136 pages, in Spanish).
It brings together stories set in Renaissance Italy, with tales of extreme passions, revenge, crimes and intrigue. Stendhal draws on chronicles and events of the period to craft brief narratives of a historical and dramatic tone.
The work was originally published in 1837 under the title Chroniques italiennes; this 1999 Espasa edition belongs to the Biblioteca Clásica series.
For readers of classic literature and historical fiction interested in Renaissance Italy.

Marie-Henri Beyle, better known by his pen name Stendhal, was a French writer. Best known for the novels Le Rouge et le Noir and La Chartreuse de Parme, he is highly regarded for the acute analysis of his characters' psychology and considered one of the early and foremost practitioners of realism. A self-proclaimed egotist, the neologism for the same characteristic in his characters was "Beylism".
