«Cuando fui mortal» is Javier Marías's collection of short stories, published by Debolsillo in hardcover (168 pages, in Spanish).

Twelve stories written between 1991 and 1995, ranging from contemporary chronicle to ghost story. There is a Spanish doctor who visits married women at night in Paris, a bodyguard fond of the racetrack, an aspiring porn actress, a ghost who comes to know what happened in his life, and a companion who reads to a ghost.

It belongs to Debolsillo's Contemporánea collection and includes a prologue by Elide Pittarello.
