«Cuentos» is Augusto Monterroso's collection of short stories, published by Alianza Editorial in 1986 in paperback (164 pages, in Spanish).
The book brings together the stories Monterroso had published up to that point, taken from Obras completas (y otros cuentos), Movimiento perpetuo and La palabra mágica. They are brief texts in which paradox and restrained humor combine with precise prose, with an ironic gaze that alternates bitterness and tenderness beneath an apparent simplicity.
It is part of Alianza Editorial's El Libro de Bolsillo collection, number 1196, Literature Section. The copy measures 18 cm in height.
Suitable for readers of short fiction and Latin American literature, as well as for those studying the classics of the short story in Spanish.
