«Cuentos de lluvia de primavera» is the short story collection by Akinari Ueda published by Satori Ediciones in paperback (280 pages, in Spanish).
The ten stories in the volume alternate history, legend and spirituality, with characters such as an ambitious courtesan, a poet pirate, a geisha of tragic fate or a criminal redeemed by the light of Buddha. The work is the literary testament of Ueda Akinari, composed when the author faced his final days.
The original, Harusame Monogatari, dates from 1808. This edition, with a prologue by Carlos Rubio and translation by Yoshifumi Kawasaki, is number 11 in the Maestros de la literatura japonesa collection.
For readers who want to approach classical Japanese narrative through short stories of a historical, fantastic and spiritual tone.
