«Cuentos transilvanos» is the short story collection by Romanian writer Pavel Dan, published by El Nadir Ediciones in paperback (256 pages, in Spanish).
The book brings together stories from interwar Transylvania that close a significant chapter in Romanian prose, in parallel with Spanish costumbrismo. Pavel Dan, a successor to Slavici, Agârbiceanu and Rebreanu, paints a social fresco with regionalisms, magic and superstition, in a realism with an ethnographic basis.
Narrativas El Nadir collection, number 31. Translated from Romanian by Rafael Pisot and Cristina Sava; original title: Urcan batrânul. Cover by Michel Koven. Published in 2009.
For readers interested in interwar Romanian narrative and ethnographic realism.
