«¡Cuidado con las focas!» is the children's story by Allan Ahlberg, published by Orbis-Plaza Joven in paperback, with 30 pages.
The story, conceived as a humorous game, piles up unexpected situations around some seals and a caricature-like character. The text, short and simple, relies on colorful images, so it works well as independent reading for early readers or as a shared story.
It was published in 1987 as number 48 of the Veo Veo: Mi primera biblioteca collection. The illustrations are by Colin McNaughton. The Veo Veo translations are by Maria Elena Walsh.
Aimed at young children starting to read; the fun tone and visual support make it suitable for reading aloud.
Janet Ahlberg and Allan Ahlberg were a British married couple who created many children's books, including picture books that regularly appear at the top of "most popular" lists for public libraries. They worked together for 20 years until Janet's death from cancer in 1994. He wrote the books and she illustrated many of them. Allan also wrote dozens of books with other illustrators.
