«Cuore primitivo» is the novel by Andrea De Carlo, published by Bompiani in 2014 in paperback (363 pages, in Italian).
Sculptor Mara Abbiati and her husband, anthropologist Craig Nolan, spend the summer near Canciale, in Liguria. When Craig falls while checking the roof, they contact Ivo Zanovelli, a builder with a shadowy past. In a few July days, the fragile balance among the three breaks, and doubts, contradictions, and dormant desires surface.
It is Andrea De Carlo's eighteenth novel. The narrative alternates chapters from the perspective of the three protagonists.
