«Das Kartengeheimnis» is the young adult novel by Jostein Gaarder with illustrations by Quint Buchholz, published by Hanser in hardcover (352 pages, in German).
Hans-Thomas travels with his father from Norway to Athens in search of his mother. Between reality and fiction, Hans-Thomas confronts questions about life, the universe, and philosophy.
Originally published in Norwegian as «Kabalmysteriet» in 1990, this 1995 German edition includes illustrations by Quint Buchholz and a translation by Gabriele Haefs.
