«Defendiendo España: Verdades y leyendas de nuestra historia» is the historical essay by Henry Kamen, published by Espasa in paperback (464 pages).
Spain was a world power for three centuries and suffered attacks from its rivals. Henry Kamen argues that its defense relied on explorers, soldiers, adventurers and financiers from many nations, even Protestants. Against the black legend, he maintains that there were foreigners who admired and protected Spain's culture and heritage.
