Déjeme is a novel by Marcelle Sauvageot published by Periférica in 2023. The story focuses on a young woman who, from a sanatorium where she is recovering from tuberculosis, responds to her lover's letter announcing his decision to break off their relationship to marry another woman. The narrator rebels against the banality of the phrases of the one she considered her great love, exploring themes such as loneliness, disappointment, and the nature of romantic and carnal love. With a dry and sharp style, the novel is an inquiry into seduction and a denial of the restrictive moral and social codes of the time.
